Structural Epoxy Adhesive

Two-part epoxies that mix 1:1 by volume and cure at room temperature or with heat into strong joints that resist water and corrosion. Lap shear on aluminium ranges from 12 to 20 MPa, and heat can release a cured joint when a part needs rework. The range has a clear grade, a general grade and two thermally conductive grades (1.5 and 2 W/m·K).

Choosing a grade

  • Maximum strength: ZLA-6104, 20 MPa on aluminium.
  • Joints that stay on show: the clear grade, ZLA-6102.
  • A bond that must also pass heat: ZLA-6106 (1.5 W/m·K) or ZLA-6108 (2 W/m·K).
  • If the joint has to absorb movement, a polyurethane or MS polymer adhesive is the better start.

Flexible Epoxy Potting Compound

Flexible two-part epoxies for potting transformers, high-voltage supplies and battery modules. Where a hard compound would crack under thermal stress, these give slightly and protect what they enclose; both grades come through heat ageing without cracks. Choose a 1:1 low-viscosity grade or a 4:1 grade with 0.4 W/m·K thermal conductivity.

Choosing a grade

  • Potting larger or deeper volumes where a hard, brittle compound could crack.
  • Fast handling and easy flow: ZLA-6202 is tack-free in 5 to 10 min.
  • Some heat to remove as well: ZLA-6204 (0.4 W/m·K, 4:1).
