Thermally Conductive Silicone Potting Compound

A two-component silicone that is poured over a populated board or into a module housing and cures into a flame-retardant silicone rubber. It bonds to the parts it surrounds, so one pour seals them in, holds them and carries their heat to the enclosure. Five grades run from 0.5 to 4.0 W/m·K, so you can balance heat transfer against flow and fill weight.

Choosing a grade

  • The whole board or module needs sealing and insulation as well as cooling.
  • Pick the lowest conductivity that keeps your hot spots within limits: the higher grades are heavier (1.5 g/cm³ at 0.5 W/m·K, 3.1 g/cm³ at 4.0 W/m·K), and from 0.5 to 3.0 W/m·K they also get thicker to pour.
  • Only one hot component to cool and no sealing needed? A dispensable thermal gel or one of our thermal pads is usually simpler.
